There are so many sites coming up almost every single day. And some of them, IMHO, just a random combination of some buzz words: social, tag/tagging, ajax...
For sure, down the road in few years, there are some winners will emerge to surface. But for the rest of them, they will just disappear.
It does not hurt to ride the tide. But just following the crowd will not lead to win.
